The first place Boston Red Sox take on the Oakland A's Tuesday evening as first pitch is a little after 6:35 p.m. ET. The Red Sox look to remain in first place and will look look to defeat the second place A's. Check out the live stream, but first, here's the pitching matchup.
It's Bartolo Colon versus Alfredo Aceves. These two veterans faceoff and both look to continue their perfect records in 2013. For Colon, as pointed out on the MLB Network, he's yet to walk a hitter this season in 19 innings pitched. Colon is pretty consistent in 2013 with a 2-0 record and 3.32 ERA. In his last start, he earned his second win of the season after going six innings and allowing just one earned run. As for Aceves, his numbers aren't too sweet. He's 1-0 in 2013 despite posting a 6.23 ERA in this new season. He went five innings against the Cleveland Indians giving up three runs and eared the victory.
The Red Sox will be without David Ortiz as he'll be sitting out after hitting a career .250 in eight at-bats against Colon. Nobody put Mike Napoli has had relative success against Colon. Napoli, who is tearing it up in 2013, is hitting .375 in eight at-bats.
Aceves doesn't have a sample big enough to dictate how he'll pitch today. The A's are 5-23 in their career against Aceves.
The Red Sox are 12-6 in the season while the Athletics are 12-8 in the season.
