NFL Draft Rumors: Jets And Bills May Battle It Out For Ryan Nassib

Apr 24, 2013 10:46 AM EDT

The Buffalo Bills have been rumored to have interest in drafting Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib with the eighth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, but now rumors have it that they may have no choice.

According to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, the New York Jets are rumored to also have "very high" interest in Nassib, and with two first round picks at ninth and 13th, they've become a serious threat in drafting Nassib in the first round, should the Bills choose to pass on Nassib in order to grab him in the second round.

However, it remains unknown whether this is a strategic move made by the Jets in order to force the Bills hand and allow prospects they're really interested in falling down to them.

ESPN New York reported some players of interest that made it to the Jets' radar:

Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU: They desperately need a pass rusher. There's a chance he could last until 13.

Jonathan Cooper, G, North Carolina: Another big need for the Jets, but they'd probably have to grab him at nine. He could go to the Titans at 10.

Chance Warmack, G, Alabama: See Cooper.

Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia: He might have been a reach at nine, but the electrifying smurf receiver jumps into the picture at 13.

Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame: It might be a stretch at 13, but the Jets lost Dustin Keller and need a pass-catching tight end for their West Coast offense.

Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia: Probably not at nine, but what about 13? Interesting. They really like Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib as well.

Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia: He's the anti-Mingo; not a speed rusher, but highly productive. There's a medical concern with his neck.
