The San Antonio Spurs host the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2 of their Western Conference quarterfinals action. Tipoff is at 9:30 p.m. ET as the Spurs look to gain a 2-0 lead and the Lakers look to avoid the 0-2 hole.
For the Spurs, it was a dominant performance Manu Ginobili off the bench as he finished with a team-high 18 points, tied with Tony Parker. Tim Duncan then added a double-double scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. However, the Spurs had a pretty bad night from the floor shooting 38 percent from the floor. Had it been an actual competitive like the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Spurs would have probably lost this game.
The seven threes they connected on made the difference in the ball game as they hit four more threes than the Lakers in Game 1. Ginobili led that charge going 3-5 from beyond the arc while Daniel Green added two more.
For the Lakers, ironically, the Nash took the most shots and missed the most shots, they played better when he was on the floor. He only had one turnover in close to 30 minutes of action. Dwight Howard scored 20 points shooting 8-12 from the floor, but they need more offensive production from himif they want any chance of succeeding in the first round. One thing the Lakers did well was use their size to grab rebounds. Gasol and Howard totaled 31 boards as they both finished with double-doubles in the night. The Lakers will also need more production from the bench as Jodie Meeks, Antawn Jamison, Earl Clark and Darius Morris combined for only 10 points.
If the Lakers' second unit can keep them in the fight and score more often, then the Lakers might have a chance to at least scratch a victory out in San Antonio.
