Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their chase for Victor Wanyama, with the midfielder insisting he has no plans of leaving Celtic at the end of the season.

Wanyama has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in an imposing defensive midfielder to the Emirates next season.

The 21-year-old failed to agree terms on a new contract with Celtic in October last year, which led to suggestions Wanyama could be on the move at the end of the season.

However, the Kenyan international, who has impressed everyone with his exploits this year, said he is targeting more glories with Celtic next season, after helping them to another SPL title.

"Will I be a Celtic player next season? Of course, I am happy and I love it here at Celtic," Wanyama said. "So I will be here next season.

"I've not really spoken to my agent because I have been playing football and I'm not thinking about leaving or having talks. I'm not worried, I feel I am in the right club and I am happy.

"We want to do better next season. If we can win the treble that's my dream and we also want to be in the Champions League.

"It's been great, the manager has given me the chance to prove myself and for that I am grateful.

"I'm happy and want to do my best and try to pay the manager back for the faith he has shown in me because he has done a lot for the team."

Wanyama caught the eye of clubs around Europe with some impressive performances in the Champions League this season, with the midfielder saying the highlight was when Celtic beat Barcelona in the group stages at Celtic Park.

"The highlight of the season for me is beating Barcelona," he added. "Afterwards Neil Lennon says I'm worth £25 million? It's just the manager's opinion, if he thinks I'm worth that then it is fine with me.

"It's a good thing to be spoken of in the same breath as Barcelona. It gives me the boost to go and work harder. I want to keep on doing well. Getting the opportunity to play against that quality of player is just fantastic.

"For me as a player I believe football is a game of learning, the more you play, the more you learn.

"It means a lot to be nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year. I've had a good season and (I'm) just happy to be at a club like this.

"I'm very grateful (and) I just want to thank my teammates for giving me the chance to be here."
