The NFL draft has become one of the biggest events for the league over the past few years and with the move to primetime there is no better way for the NFL to market itself than with the prime spectacle that is the draft, as college players have grown in prominence as scouting and social media have developed. Last season had two genuine stars at the top of the draft in Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin and while this year the draft is deeper than star heavy, the Kansas City Chiefs should be able to get an elite starter in Eric Fisher or Luke Joeckel, which may signal that they are going to trade Branden Albert to the Chiefs. The Jaguars will follow with a pick and then the top five is rounded out by the Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions, who reportedly want Dee Milliner.
Some of the quarterbacks that could get taken after the top ones in Geno Smith and Ryan Nassib include Matt Scott, Landry Jones, EJ Manuel, Mike Glennon and Tyler Bray from Tennessee, who has one of the biggest arms but has had to deal with questions about his mental toughness and work ethic. Desmond Trufant is considered to be one of the top cornerback prospects, but many experts feel that Houston corner DJ Hayden has been the best prospect at the position leading up to the draft.
Some prospects that will be targeted hard by teams include at the tight end position with Stanford's Zach Ertz, who was one of the most productive players in all of football while making 112 career catches. Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib could be the first player at his position and he leaves school with the most passing yards in team history.
There are a number of teams looking to make moves in the first round and that could spark a number of trades as the 49ers, Vikings, Chargers and Dolphins have all expressed an interest in moving up, while the Eagles, Browns and Cowboys all have said they could move down, as well as the Jets, who have two number one picks after trading Darrelle Revis.
