Tim Tebow Trade Rumors: NY Jets Get Their Own Jeremy Lin

Mar 21, 2012 01:16 PM EDT

Widely reported as being on the trade market, Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is gaining interest from around the NFL following the Broncos' signing of Peyton Manning.

According to sources with ESPN, one of Tebow's suitors include the New York Jets, who recently gave a three year contract extension to their struggling quarterback Mark Sanchez.

While Sanchez would remain the starter, Tebow could serve as the quarterback in a "Wildcat" formation where the quarterback would have the option to run or pass.  Tebow was effective in running the formation during his playoff run with the Broncos and his college years at Florida.

Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano installed the "Wildcat" when he was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

If the Jets trade for Tebow, they would be bringing "Tebow-mania" to the Big Apple, where "Linsanity" has already hit with New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin.

Lin and Tebow share parallels in a common faith and a common media frenzy following win streaks for their respective teams.

As the biggest media market in the world, New York would doubly become the center of attention with the addition of Tebow.
