The Montreal Canadiens are down a game in their all-Canada opening first round series against the Ottawa Senators after losing Game 1 and the team now will be without one of their players for an extended period of time, as center Lars Eller will be out after taking a bloody hit from Ottawa's Eric Gryba.
According to ESPN.com, Eller was slammed by Gryba in the game after taking a pass from Raphael Diaz up the middle and afterwards he was taken off the ice on a stretcher. The report says that the center suffered a concussion and fractures in his face after the hit and he was on the ice in a pool of blood before being taken off. Eric Gryba was ejected after the hit and the team also was hit with a five minute major for interference.
The hit was a huge blow and it could have an effect on the series, as the Canadiens are already down a game.
"It's tough seeing a guy laying in a heap with blood coming out," Canadiens center Ryan White said. "You never want to see that."
