Tottenham will continue their bid for a Champions League place when they host Southampton in the English Premier League Saturday.

Spurs are currently in fifth on 62 points from 34 games, two points behind Arsenal, who have played a game more. Chelsea are third on 65 points, and the crucial game of the week will be when the Blues and Spurs meet Wednesday.

"Everyone is driven," Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas said. "Ambition and desire to achieving our objectives is something we never missed this season.

"We go into every fixture with a will to win and a desire to win. We need to do our jobs properly and to get the right result."

Southampton, thirteenth on 39 points, are still not entirely assured of safety even though they are seven points clear of third bottom Wigan.

"Southampton play good football, they are organised and a great team to watch," Villas-Boas added. "For a change of manager to happen in mid-season was a bit of a shock after what Nigel Adkins had done, but Mauricio Pochettino has transformed the way they play.

"They have beaten Chelsea, Liverpool and City, so we can only say good words about the work Mauricio has done."

Saints manager Pochettino, whose side lost to West Brom last weekend, believes his team are capable of pulling off an upset.

"We're going to be facing a really good team," Pochettino told the club's official website. "They have very good footballers, but in football anything is possible, and we have our own strengths and weapons, whilst we also hope that we play better than we did last week.

"I think the last game that we played was one of the matches where we created the least number of chances so we have to be able to express all of the anger that we have from the West Bromwich game and channel that into a positive way for the game against Tottenham on Saturday.

"We have to be confident in our abilities and at one hundred percent on the day so that we can win."

Emmanuel Adebayor and Jake Livermore are available after missing last week's 2-2 draw against Wigan, while a decision on Mousa Dembele (hamstring) will be made just prior to the game.

Southampton will be without Gaston Ramirez and Danny Fox, who are suspended, while Luke Shaw is set for a return from an ankle injury.
