Tim Tebow Rumors: WWE An Option For Quarterback Says Hall of Famer Jim Ross, QB To Follow Muhammad Ali, Karl Malone and Brandon Jacobs To Pro Wrestling?

Tim Tebow has received numerous offers since being released and clearing waivers from the New York Jets, but the tough part for the quarterback is that many of them are not for playing in the NFL, including ones from Arena Football, the CFL, Lingerie Football and indoor football and now he can add professional wrestling to the list.

According to Yahoo Sports, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has floated the idea of Tebow participating in the organization in a blog post over the weekend. While he says that the offer is in jest, he also mentions that stranger things have happened in the sport before. While Ross accidentally wrote "Time Tebow" instead of Tim, he basically says that he could be the perfect fit for the sport and could play the role of an antagonist in the WWE. Tebow likely will never respond to the "jest" of an offer, but the entertainment value he could bring to the ring would be immense.

There have been a number of athletes and other sports figures that have taken part in professional wrestling over the years in various organizations, including in WWE, WCW, TNA and more. Celebrities have gotten involved in the action as well, including names like Drew Carey and David Arquette. Some athletes include Brandon Jacobs, AJ Pierzynski, Karl Malone, Dennis Rodman and many more. Recently Hall of fame quarterback Warren Moon said that Tebow would not be a good fit in the CFL since that league throws way more than in the NFL and he also had to deal with an embarrassing offer from an indoor football league in Nebraska.

Many teams are scared of signing Tebow due to the media storm he brings, but if he was not so high-profile, there are actually a number of fits around the league for the quarterback, including the Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Diego Chargers and the Cleveland Browns among other teams. The former Heisman trophy winner had a rough season with the Jets after being traded from the Denver Broncos and did not get as much playing time as in 2011 by a longshot.

Tebow gained just 102 yards rushing and 39 on the ground and was a constant distraction for quarterback Mark Sanchez. Tebow was on the field for just 77 offensive plays and the team wasted $4.1 million on him by the time they released him last week. The team held a huge press conference when he was acquired, but put out a press release the Monday morning when he was released.

"Perhaps Time Tebow will show up and do a "run in" as he's looking for work. Perhaps trying WWE would be a nice fit for Tebow who would undoubtedly be an antagonist in today's defiant world. Of course, I jest regarding Tebow in WWE but stranger things have happened," Ross wrote in his blog post.
