Baltimore Ravens Rumors: Brandon Lloyd, Devery Henderson to Replace Anquan Boldin? GM DeCosta Wants More Wide Receivers

When the NFL offseason began, the Baltimore Ravens made headlines for trading away Anquan Boldin, one of their best wide receivers. Instead of grabbing one of the better options in the draft, they waited until the seventh round to grab someone in the position. This leaves uncertainty on the roster. While the Ravens are hoping that a few of their current receivers can step up and replace Boldin, assistant general manager Eric DeCosta is still considering signing a free agent.

DeCosta was not sold on a single wide receiver in the draft. He credited Tavon Austin as the best, but knew the team had no chance of getting him. This leaves free agency as their best option to grab one more deep threat.

"Our pro personnel department looks at all available players and we'll make a decision at some point of what we want to do at that position. There are definitely some players out there we want to do at that position. There are definitely some players out there. We'll consider all options," DeCosta said.

Several options remain on the free agent market that the Ravens could easily get for a reasonable price. Brandon Lloyd is possibly the best remaining receiver out there. After getting dropped by the New England Patriots, Lloyd has receiver little to know interest. Last season, Lloyd recorded 911 yards and four touchdowns as Tom Brady's second or third option.

Devery Henderson could also be in consideration for Baltimore. Henderson has spent his entire career with the New Orleans Saints since 2005. His production has certainly decreased over the years, but would still be a decent player for the team. Last season he only recorded 316 yards and one touchdown.

As Baltimore evaluates the free agent market, they have some in-house options that could possibly step in as a replacement. Jacoby Jones looks to be the best option. After a solid playoff run, he is slowly cementing himself as one of the league's best threats. The Ravens will also be counting on Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss to improve in 2013.

It is likely that DeCosta will reach out to one more receiver before training camp begins. He stressed that the process is ongoing as guys get cut and other guys get signed. The Ravens will have a better feel for things when everyone reports in the summer.
