The Vancouver Canucks are staring at elimination. Once again, the team is on the brink of having an early exit once again from the playoffs as they face the San Jose Sharks in Game 4. So far, the Sharks have been every bit of dominant, preventing the Canucks from being at all competitive. After a blowout win in Game 3, the Sharks are looking from one more home win to move on to the next round in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Canucks will give the Game 4 start to Cory Schneider. Schneider sat out the first two playoff games due to an undisclosed injury as veteran Roberto Luongo got the nod. When Schneider got the start for Game 3, the team was hoping he would continue his style of play that he displayed during the regular season. Instead, Schneider allowed five goals on 28 shots. He was pulled after four minutes in the third period and did not return. The starter played in 30 regular season games, allowing just 2.11 goals per game. He saved 23 of 28 shots in Game 3. Luongo allowed just six goals on 61 shots in the first two games. No matter, Vancouver still has faith that Schneider can get the job done.
The Sharks have a 3-0 lead and they are saying all the right things about not letting up and not feeling content. Their power play remains the team's top strength after they scored three power-play goals in Game 3. They are now 4-17 on the power-play conversions. Logan Couture is helping carry the team into the second round after he recorded two goals and four points in Game 3. He has three goals and six points in the entire series.
