Jacksonville Jaguars Rumors: Tim Tebow Option Out Still As Denard Robinson Takes His Role and Could See 10 to 15 Touches Per Game On Offense

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been adamant about not signing Tim Tebow despite the persistence of the fans in the area and one of the main reasons for that it the selection by general manager David Caldwell of Michigan star Denard Robinson in the NFL draft last month.

While fans have been begging the team to sign Tebow, in both a White House petition as well as with an ad purchased by an area lawyer, the team has been consistent in rebuffing the cries and are set with Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne heading into the season. Another reason the team is likely reluctant to bring him in is due to the fact that they have Robinson in the fold. According to NFL.com, Robinson said that the plan for the team is to give him between 10 and 15 touches per game from out of the backfield or in other sets while using him as a return guy and a running back in certain situations.

Robinson will get touches from Maurice Jones-Drew and fellow rookie Ace Sanders will also be used in special sets with both players. Justin Forsett is behind Drew on the roster and if Robinson can show he understands schemes, he could get even more touches. Robinson will be taking a role that could have been filled by Tebow, but he has been reluctant to change positions and the Jaguars appear set with their players despite the attention on them from fans about signing Tebow.

Robinson was a quarterback in college and "Shoelaces" was one of the most dynamic players for a time before getting injured. The Jaguars selected him knowing that he would be a running back and a receiver and he also could take some snaps as quarterback in different situations. The fans will still try to get the Jaguars to sign Tebow, but so far owner Shad Khan has put his best interest in the abilities of Caldwell and he likes the results, meaning Tebow is likely out of the running for any shot at getting signed there.
