Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas will return to his former club Chelsea in an English Premier League game which could decide who finishes in the top-four at the end of the season.

Chelsea are currently in pole position, with 68 points from 35 games, one more than Arsenal and three clear of Tottenham. Both Spurs and Chelsea have played a game less that Arsenal, meaning a win for Tottenham can see them leapfrog over their rivals.

A draw would suit both Arsenal and Chelsea, while Spurs absolutely need to pick up all three points at Stamford Bridge Wednesday.

"At this point it is crucial because if we win we are in the top four, nearly guaranteed," Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez said. "Earlier in the season we had important games but this is the most important.

"We want to finish in the top three or even more. It depends on the other results but we will try to win every game."

Benitez had kind words for Villas-Boas, who has had an impressive first season with Tottenham, after his abrupt departure from Chelsea last year, while also admitting his admiration for Gareth Bale, who has been unstoppable over the last couple of months.

"I think he is a good manager, he is working hard for his new team," Benitez added. "They're in a good position and doing well.

"He (Bale) is very good, having a great season and scoring a lot of crucial goals for them. He is playing in different positions and doing well in all of them. The way we play, we have a good team with good players. We have to keep an eye on him but they have to keep an eye on ours."

Chelsea will welcome back Eden Hazard, but John Obi Mikel and Ryan Bertrand are ruled out. Oriol Romeu could make the squad after returning to full training.

Spurs are hopeful over Aaron Lennon and Mousa Dembele, with both players expected to recover from hamstring problems for the crucial game. Sandro, Younes Kaboul and William Gallas are ruled out.
