While current NFL coaches may not be supporting Tim Tebow, there are a slew of other people voicing their support. The quarterback was just named the most influential athlete by Forbes.com, so that has to have some sort of pull right? Even if Tebow cannot get a job at the moment in the NFL, he might have a place in another sort of league after getting support from an NFL legend. Former New York Jets quarterback Vinny Testaverde is showing his support for Tebow.
Testaverde once worked with Tebow in the offseason, helping him with his odd throwing motion. That motion is preventing him from getting another job in football, but working with Testaverde could have a least a few other teams calling.
Current co-owner and president of Arena League's Tampa Bay Storm, Derrick Brooks, is good friends with Testaverde and has spoken to the quarterback about Tebow.
"I'm mostly positive that Tim will get another chance after talking with Vinny, who said, 'He worked on some footwork stuff in the pocket which improved Tim's throwing accuracy and improved his motion. Vinny really believes we've not seen the best of Tim," Brooks said.
This is some of the first positive words spoken of Tebow since the quarterback was released by the New York Jets just after the draft. Brooks believes that once teams get a real look at their internal options, someone will come calling Tebow's number. Could that be with the New England Patriots?
"Could be. Dealing with Tim because of the persona that he brings, it's something that your organization has to be comfortable with," Brooks said.
The former Florida State player knows a thing or two about people doubting talent. Brooks was originally evaluated to play safety in the NFL, but he stood by his belief that he was a linebacker and ended up being one of the best in the league for 14 seasons. Multiple people have said Tebow should switch to tight end, but at the moment he is insisting on playing quarterback. Brooks is cheering for Tebow and if the quarterback decides to make the switch to the Arena Leauge, he will give the quarterback a call.
"I'm rooting for Tim because I totally understand what it's like to believe in your abilities-when people told me that I was an NFL strong safety, I believed in my heart of hearts that I was a linebacker. And I want Tim to have that opportunity again to show people he can be an NFL quarterback."
