Felix Jones has become quite the popular free agent this offseason as the latest reports indicate the former Dallas Cowboys RB's next stop on his tour of teams will be in New England.
According to NFL.com, Jones will visit the Patriots for a workout Thursday, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday.
The Patriots are likely looking at Jones as an option to have in the case that one of their own backs goes down with an injury. New England's depth chart goes at least five deep at the running back spot, with Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, Brandon Bolden and recently acquired veterans Leon Washington and LeGarrette Blount.
Jones was also linked to have visited the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this week as well.
Jones appeal to the Eagles is simple, he can add depth behind LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown. The Eagles dealt reserve Dion Lewis to Cleveland earlier in the offseason and did not draft a back.
The Eagles also have running back Chris Polk on their roster, but both Pulk and Brown have little experience in the NFL.
Jones has not garnered much attention during this free agency period, but he's also worked out with the Cincinnati Bengals as well.
Jones,26, spent the last five seasons with the Cowboys, rushing for 2,728 yards and 11 touchdowns on 569 carries (4.8 ypc) and hauling in 127 receptions for 1,062 yards (8.4 ypr) and 11 scores. Jones returned a kick 98 yards for a score against the Eagles when he was a rookie.
