The Montreal Canadiens are on the brink against fellow Canadian team the Ottawa Senators, but when the two teams hit the ice on Thursday night for their Game 5 matchup in the playoffs, Carey Price will not be in goal for the home team.
According to the AP, Price suffered a lower body injury and will be out for the rest of the first round, meaning that could be it for Montreal in the playoffs, as they are down 3-1 in the series, Price was hurt in the third period on Tuesday against the Senators and he was replaced by Peter Budaj in the overtime period, which saw Ottawa win 3-2.
The 25-year-old goalie has been a stalwart for Montreal and he made 30 saves in Game 4, which came after a 6-1 loss in Game 3. Price is a three time All Star in his career and he had a solid regular season by winning 21 games. The Canadiens are in a must-win situation on Thursday and the only way Price will be back in net is if they can force a Game 7 against Ottawa.
