The San Antonio Spurs are looking every bit the part of the calm veterans during their playoff series with the Golden State Warriors. Despite entering Game 3 with the series tied, the Spurs remained calm and got the win to take the lead.
The Warriors main concern is star Stephen Curry. The point guard's nagging left ankle injury flared up in Game 3. X-rays came back negative, but his amount of playing time remains up in the air. Officially named a game-time decision for Sunday, Golden State cannot afford to be without Curry.
The original injury took place during the Warrior's opening series with Denver. Curry had been receiving injections to hopefully easy some of the pain while playing. Curry and the rest of the team will be playing on short rest and Curry is simply hoping his body responds to the anti-inflammatory medicine.
Golden State is not the only team with an injured point guard. Tony Parker had his calf kicked during Game 3, leaving the veteran to exit the game briefly. It was determined no X-rays were necessary and Parker spent the off day working out the tightness. He plans on playing in Game 4, but is not sure for how long.
Game 3 saw the Warriors cool down for the first time in the postseason. San Antonio outshot Golden State 50.6 to 39.3 percent. Curry and Klay Thompson went cold in the second half, causing the Warriors to fall behind.
Curry is necessary for the Warriors championship hopes. He set an NBA record in the regular season, making 272 3-point shots. If he is unable to go, Jarrett Jack will likely take his spot. Golden State is 2-2 without Curry this season so his presence will be necessary.
