MLB All-Star Voting: Get Your Favorite Players into Midsummer Classic as Ballots are Open

May 13, 2013 01:03 PM EDT

The MLB All-Star Game is a couple of months away, but the voting starts now. Ballots have been open for just about two weeks and it's your chance to get your guys into the 84th All-Star Game hosted by Citi Field home of the New York Mets. Check out the link to vote for your favorite player and here are somethings to keep in mind.

You can vote 25 times with a valid email. Sit there and try to remember all your emails. We've all done it, it's okay.

The ballots will be open until July 4, Independence Day, at 11:59 p.m. ET/10:59p.m. CT/8:59 p.m. PT. Don't procrastinate and take a couple of minutes to do it. If you think you can do it all in one sitting, think again. It feels like an eternity after the fifth vote.

Think wisely of who you vote for. The winner of the All-Star game gets home field advantage in the World Series. The only problem with this, of course, are the fans who are rooting for, let's say the Houston Astros. They would love to see their guys out there, so they vote for them. They don't have any chance at the World Series however, so why should they care who wins or doesn't win the All-Star Game? The Mets might be deficient on representatives, but you can expect David Wright to be there and Matt Harvey is making a run at a chance to be the starting pitcher as his numbers make him one of the best hurlers at the beginning of the season.

Last year, the National League won the All-Star game in Kansas City as Melky Cabrera took home the honors as the game's MVP, but we later found it he wasn't doing it on his own. The National League has won back-to-back All-Star games and they will look to continue the trend.

American League fans, step right up and get your favorite guys into the games.

On Sunday, July 7, the ballots will reopen until Thursday, July 11 allowing fans to vote for one final player in each league.
