Tim Tebow Philadelphia Soul Rumors: Offer From Ron Jaworski Should Be Considered As Quarterback NFL Future Grim As Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns and Bears Out?

May 14, 2013 10:02 AM EDT

Tim Tebow most likely will clear waivers and become a free agent after no team was willing to trade for him from the New York Jets during the offseason and now the quarterback must deal with the possibility that the NFL may not be in his future and one place that might be is with the Philadelphia Soul in the Arena League.

According to the Washington Post, part owner of the Soul and former Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski offered Tebow a spot on the team if he was willing and that he likes his skills. He said that a lot can be learned in the AFL and said that he would not push it but that he would be open to hearing back from Tim.

"One [criticism] of Tebow is that he is slow and methodical," Jaworski said. "He would be forced to quicken it up in this league and it would be good training for him. You can learn a lot in this league. It's about processing information and getting the ball out . . . or you get whacked."

According to CSN Philly, the Eagles and the Chicago Bears have said they are not interested in Tebow and despite the fact that he appears to fit well into the new offense with head coach Chip Kelly, the team has said thanks, but no thanks. The report says that the team is not looking at Tebow, especially after drafting quarterback Matt Barkley in the draft. Kelly's offense needs accurate and strong passes, something Tebow struggles with.

Kelly keeps hammering away about the accuracy and after Tebow completed less than 50 percent of his throws during his career, it is likely that he won't be in eagles camp, especially since they have so many quarterbacks with Barkley, Michael Vick, Dennis Dixon and Nick Foles. In 2011 he went 7-4 with the Broncos and had 660 rushing yards and six touchdowns and according to the report, his completion percentage is the ranks 307th of 339 QBs since 1960 with over 300 attempts.

Tebow has many options and few options at the same time. Many, because he is a free agent and technically can sign anywhere, but also few, since most teams will be unwilling to bring the Tebow drama into camp. Many teams could use a player like Tebow, but since he brings so much media attention, there is a chance that he won't be able to catch on with an NFL team. The CFL and Lingerie leagues have made him offers and he also has offers from an indoor league as well as the Arena league.

The Browns also are an interesting option for the quarterback, as general manager Mike Lombardi has praised Tebow and new coach Rob Chudzinski worked wonders with Cam Newton in Carolina using an offense with a mobile quarterback, even though their skill sets are different.

The report also has a quote from Kelly that shows why Tebow isn't a fit: "We've never been that type of offense, and I think that's a misconception," Kelly said Saturday.. "We did not run the same offense that Florida ran with Tim Tebow, where we're running quarterback power. We've never run that play."
