Former Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones has found a new place to call home as next season he's set to leave the lone star state for the city of brotherly love as he and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed to terms on a one-year contract, according to NFL sources.
Jones, 26, worked out with the Eagles last week, before visiting the New England Patriots later in the week. He also worked out for the Cincinnati Bengals, the only team to have publicly expressed their interest in signing the former free agent this offseason.
The former first round pick in 2009 spent four season with the Cowboys, where he was used in various schemes. He finishes his career in Dallas with 2,728 yards on 569 carries (4.8 yards a carry) and caught 127 passes for 1,062 yards in five seasons. He also scored 11 rushing touchdowns, caught three more through the air and averaged 24.0 yards on kick returns.
Jones appeal to the Eagles is simple, he can add depth behind LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown. The Eagles dealt reserve Dion Lewis to Cleveland earlier in the offseason and did not draft a back.
Reigning Super Bowl champions the Baltimore Ravens also made an addition to their roster recently with the signing of tight end Dennis Pitta to a $2.023 million second-restricted tender.
The Ravens had long stated that they want to sign Pitta to a long-term deal after he recorded 61 receptions for 669 yards and seven touchdowns last season as well as 14 catches for 163 yards and three scores during the postseason.
The team has also signed four undrafted rookie free agents: cornerback Moe Lee, wide receiver Rashaad Carter, safety Gary Walker and outside linebacker Meshak Williams.
