Arsene Wenger believes the potential signing of German forward Lukas Podolski in the summer will make Arsenal challenge for major titles next season, according to a Daily Mail report.
The Frenchman wants another striker to strengthen his attack and ease the pressure on captain Robin van Persie. The Dutch forward has scored an astounding 26 goals in the league so far and has often single-handedly secured results for his club. His striking partners - Marouane Chamakh and Park Chu-Young have only scored twice, between them, all season.
"Yes (we want Podolski), because we want to add some offensive strikers, because many times people say we rely too much on van Persie, which is true, but if we can find world-class players, we will (challenge for the title)," the Daily Mail quoted Wenger as saying.
However, the Arsenal manager denied reports Podolski had already passed a medical at Arsenal and would complete a £11m move from Cologne next week.
