Harrison Barnes Injury: Rookie Cuts Head and Enters in 2nd Half

May 17, 2013 12:11 AM EDT

Harrison Barnes hit the deck hard late in the second quarter as the Golden State Warriors faced the San Antonio Spurs in Game 6. Barnes was defending Boris Diaw as he was driving to the hoop when he took a lot of contact, hitting the floor hard and staying there for a while.

Surprisingly, no trianers rushed out to look at Barnes as they probably thought he was probably just catching his breath on the floor. Stephen Curry noticed the delay in Barnes; ability to get on his feet. It never happened and eventually, medics got on to the floor as Barnes took over 10 minutes to get on his feet.

The verdict was a hard hit on his head. As Barnes fell, his right arm got tied up on his back, not allowing him to break his fall and Barnes fell hard on his right temple. Up to that point, Barnes had eight points in the first half. He was the only other scorer in the Warriors to have any success in that first half. Curry had 16 points as he was single-handedly keeping the Warriors in the game.

No videos or photos have been made available of the injury, but as soon as those are available, we will get those to the public.

The conlusion of Diaw's play was a travel, so the Warriors didn't have anything to worry about. On top of that, Barnes ran back out on to the floor after halftime and is currently on the floor int he second half as the Warriors will need a comeback to defeat the Spurs and avoid elimination from the playoffs.
