The Charles Woodson rumors continue to heat up, but recent events may prove to be the end of all the speculation as Oakland Raiders fans may possibly be breaking out the welcome mat for the potential return of an old favorite.
The Oakland Tribune is reporting that Woodson will once again visit the Raiders on Tuesday, which may hold as a good sign that a possible contract has been formulated and is just awaiting Woodson's approval.
Woodson recently said at a charity golf tournament over the weekend that he'd enjoy to end his career where it all started for him if it remains to be a viable option.
"It would be a really big thing to go back to Oakland being that I played there really most of my career," Woodson told Maize and Blue.com. "I still have a lot of friends there. I still know people in the organization. It would be a homecoming of sorts if it were to happen, so we'll see."
The friends Woodson speaks of are Raider kicker Sebastian Janikowski and former Green Bay Packers teammate Matt Flynn.
"I've spent four years with Charles. Everybody knows he's a great player, but he's also a great man, a great teammate, a great leader," Flynn said. "The front office is going to make the right decision about what they think is going to be best for us going forward ... we'll see how it plays out."
Upon his release from the Packers, Woodson has stated that he wanted to play for a contender. He has since revised his stance on the issue.
"At this point, I want to play football," Woodson said in a recent appearance on the NFL Network. "If it's a rebuilding stage at this point, and that's the circumstances I have to play under, then that's what I'm going to do."
