NHL Playoffs Bracket 2013: New York Rangers In Danger Of 3-0 Series Against Boston Bruins As Los Angeles Kings Go For 3-1 Against San Jose Sharks In Game 4

May 21, 2013 03:56 PM EDT

The New York Rangers are on the brink of falling behind 3-0 in their series with the Boston Bruins with Game 3 coming on Tuesday night from MSG and the team desperately needs a win.

The Rangers started off 0-2 against the Washington Capitals before making a comeback, but the team will not be able to last if they keep making this a common thing. The team has had issues winning on the road, they have done it just once this playoffs and now they are in a position where they must win Game 3 or they could basically be done in the series down 3-0 against Boston.

The two teams are bitter rivals despite not playing in the postseason since the 1970s and the Rangers will be a bit off if Henrik Lundqvist's shoulder keeps bothering him. The goalie will need to play like he did against the Caps in Games 6 and 7 when he posted back to back shutouts, as the Rangers have had issues keeping leads. Goals by Ryan Callahan and Rick Nash may bode well for the team as the series moves on, but they need to get more consistent. Derek Brassard and Derek Stepan have been the only sure things when it comes to scoring and even with that the Rangers are struggling.

The Kings and Sharks will play Game 4 with the Kings up 2-1 in San Jose, with Mike Richards leading the team in scoring and assists. Jeff Carter has stepped up for the Sharks, while Joe Thornton needs to do more for the team. The Red Wings are up 2-1 in their series after a 3-1 victory over the Blackhawks and the team can take a 3-1 lead in the next game.

The NHL playoff series sit at:

--New York Rangers 0, Boston Bruins 2

--Los Angeles Kings 2, San Jose Sharks 1

--Detroit Red Wings 2, Chicago Blackhawks 1

--Pittsburgh Penguins 2, Ottawa Senators 1
