The Cleveland Cavaliers won the 2013 NBA Draft Lottery for the second time in three years as their lucky charm, Nick Gilbert. son of Dan Gilbert, predicted a No. 1 pick. The Cavaliers got lucky again and hopefully for their fan base, Gilbert is once again correct as he predicted the Cavaliers would make a playoff push.
The Cavaliers finished with the third worst record in 2013 posting a 24-58 season. Now, the Cavs can get another No.1 pick as Kyrie Irving was the 2012 Rookie of the Year and is one of the premier talents in the league. The Cavs also got their new, but old, head coach in Mike Brown back. He transformed them into contenders and even made a playoff run landing in the NBA Finals in 2007.
Magic Johnson said it best, the NBA gods are smiling down on the Cavaliers after they lost LeBron James to Miami. Entering the draft, the Orlando Magic had a 25 percent chance of winning the 2013 Draft Lottery. The Charlotte Bobcats were second with 19.9 percent chance of winning it followed by the actual winners, Cavaliers, who had a 15.6 percent chance of winning the draft.
The Cavaliers got lucky and now they believe they can win it all.
