The Cleveland Cavaliers won the draft lottery for the second time in three years and now the team is in great position to trade out of the top spot or draft presumptive number one player Nerlens Noel, who played his freshman season at Kentucky.
The draft lottery, which is the most psychotic way of dispensing out draft picks of any other American major sport, gave the Cavs the top pick, while the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards are behind in the top three. Last time around the Cavaliers selected Kyrie Irving with the top pick and he went on to win rookie of the year after being taken number one. The Cavs have experience getting the top pick, as they did when they drafted LeBron James.
Dan Gilbert's son Nick was once again on stage to get the selection and now the team has the chance to add another great talent to the roster after having picks last season. The Wizards went from number eight to three in the lottery, which obviously makes a lot of sense, and now they could select Ben McLemore or Trey Burke as well as names like Otto Porter.
Following the top three are the Bobcats and the Suns rounding out the top five, while the Pelicans, Kings, Pistons, Timberwolves and Trail Blazers are in the top 10. The Cavs will have a chance to trade, as they have the Nos. 19, 31 and 33 picks and they have a new coach in Mike Brown to help make them.
The team had the third worst record and lucked out by getting the top pick and now they can improve yet again with Irving already in the fold. The Magic now have the chance to try and help replace losing Dwight Howard with a top talent, and the Bobcats will also be trying to improve after being bad for a decade.
