The Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers face off in Game 1 of the long awaited Eastern Conference Finals as tip off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. If you can't watch the game or hear it on the radio, you're in the right place as this live blog will feature play-by-play and live scoring updates of Game 1.
The Pacers were active over the weekend as they put away the New York Knicks in Game 6. They received a great game from Lance Stephenson and proved that though they don't have a Carmelo Anthony, they were healthy and in sync. They defeated the Knicks in six games and have gone 8-4 in the playoffs so far this season.
Without a doubt, the Heat are the toughest matchup for the Pacers so far. They took out the Atlanta Hawks in the first around and then faced the Knicks. The Heat are prepared for a physical battle as the Chicago Bulls punished them in their five-game series. Miami survived the physicality of that series and the Bulls surprised Miami in Game 1 and stole one from the Heat.
This might happen again tonight. The Heat have been idle for six games and when they don't play, they have the tendency of coming out slow and playing lazy basketball. If they don't execute, the Pacers will make them pay. The Heat have the better individual game, but the Pacers have a lineup with guys who hustle. Stephenson is flying under the radar, but the Heat will have to put a body on him if they don't want to be embarrassed. The Heat will have to clog lanes and avoid George Hill from penetrating. Down in the paint, they will need a body on Roy Hibbert at all times.
The Heat have the deeper bench and are the more talented team, but if they lack the heart and fight in this matchup, there could be an upset in the Eastern Conference Finals.
