The 2013 Men's and Women's Singles draw was made earlier today in France as the second grand slam of the tennis season is set to kick off on Sunday, May 26. Here are the matchups for the 83rd French Open tournament.
First up, it was the Women's singles draw order. There were 128 spots available. The computer automatically placed 96 names on the board. One by one, these names crossed over to the bracket placing them with their opponents.
There were no withdrawals from the Women's Singles brackets and there were some spots left to be filled as the qualifiers are still taking place. Rafael Nadal stuck his hand in the cup and withdrew the names in the following order.
Serena Williams and Sharapova were installed as No. 1 and 2, respectively, before the other females were picked out of the cup. Here are the orders of the Top 10 in the Women's Singles bracket:
No. 3 Victoria Azarenka
No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska
No. 5 Sara Errani
No. 6 Li Na
No. 7 Petra Kivtova
No. 8 Angelique Kerber
No. 9 Samantha Stosur
No. 10 Caroline Wozniacki
No. 17 Sloane Stephens will be expected to make some noise in the tournament as the 20-year-old is one of the rising talents in Women's Tennis.
As for the men, some of the names absent from competition are Andy Murray, Thomaz Bellucci, Juan Martin del Potro. This is probably good news for a lot of the guys in the opening rounds of the tournament.
