NFL Rumors 2013: NFC East Injury Comebacks Include Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III, Giants WR Hakeem Nicks and Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick

The NFC East is often considered one of the toughest divisions in the NFL and while only one team made the postseason from the group of four with the Washington Redskins, the fact that each won at least three games against division opponents apart from one team shows the even strength around the East and this season all four are dealing with key players coming back from injury.

The New York Giants were coming off of a Super Bowl season after 2011 and one of the biggest issues for the team was the health of wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, who needed offseason surgery and also got banged up during the year. The Redskins made the playoffs with a 10-6 record while going 5-1 in the division, but star quarterback and rookie of the year Robert Griffin is coming back from serious knee surgery and while he is on schedule, there is a chance he could miss Week 1. The Dallas Cowboys dealt with a number of injuries on both sides of the ball and finished with an 8-8 record and lost the final game of the season to the Redskins to lose the division title.

The Eagles went just 4-12 and lost 11 of 12 games at one point, but with a new coach in Chip Kelly and a number of exciting rookies and new players, they could be one of the most interesting teams in the whole conference. Quarterback Michael Vick dealt with some injuries last season, but he appears healthy and has the inside track to the starting position over rookie Matt Barkley and second year player Nick Foles. The Eagles also will be reshaping the offensive line after drafting Lane Johnson with the fourth pick while left tackle Jason Peters is coming back from a serious injury and could start off in a backup role.

The Redskins had one of the most exciting seasons in recent memory and although they proved to have a solid backup in last year's fellow rookie Kirk Cousins, Griffin is the future in Washington and after coming off of ACL surgery he is looking to come back stronger and just as explosive as the offense evolves again. Many in DC say that Griffin has a higher approval rating than President Obama and while that may be, the year for the Redskins will depend on his health. The team may try to keep him in the pocket more to help hold back some of the hits he took last season, but that was why he was so successful in the first place.

The Giants are gearing up for a big season after a very solid draft and free agent period and the team will be looking to improve on defense after adding Cullen Jenkins, Aaron Ross and Aaron Curry. The team also is expecting to have Victor Cruz once he signs his contract and a healthy Knicks, who dealt with a broken bone in his foot during camp last year and then got banged up early in the season and missed three games. He also proved why he is so valuable, as the Giants offense was inconsistent all season without him fully healthy and explosive. Nicks and Cruz are the best explosive wideout duo in the league and Eli Manning could put up huge numbers this season to those two while throwing behind first round draft pick Justin Pugh and a likely improved offensive line.

The Dallas Cowboys just gave quarterback Tony Romo a huge contract and after being mostly quiet in free agency he will be looking to have another big season stat wise that Jerry Jones hopes will translate into wins. The team is working to remake the defense under Montee Kiffin and the return of injured linebacker Sean Lee could give the team more consistency, even though they also lost Dan Carpenter to the Giants in free agency. The Redskins will have the inside track for the division after winning it last season, but it is totally up for grabs this year and it wouldn't be surprising to see any of these teams taking the division and having another snag the wild card, even the Eagles, as teams go worst to first every year.
