Green Bay Packers Rumors: Aaron Rodgers Wants Brett Farve To Attend Number Retirement

May 24, 2013 12:49 PM EDT

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said Wednesday that he'd be "excited" at the sight of seeing Brett Favre's number retired in Green Bay before being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, according to NFL.com reports.

Later that day, Rodgers made the remarks to the "The Jim Rome Show."

"It's been too long. I think our country and the state of Wisconsin, these people are people of second, third and fourth chances, and I think it's time to let the healing process begin for those who are still upset about what went down.

"I was totally OK with being out front of that, and I'm very secure of the things I've been able to accomplish with the team and individually here in Green Bay, and excited about the chance to see him again and get his number retired here before he goes into Canton," Rodgers said.

Rodgers and Favre both appeared together in February during the NFL Honors ceremony during Super Bowl week,  a move that was seen as a step toward to unify the two in the Packers fold.

Favre had a messy split from the Packers with a tearful retirement announcement in 2008. He later tried to rejoin the team but the Packers stood firm that they had were committing to Rodgers for the future.
