Former Duke Blue Devils' forward Ryan Kelly has taken the plunge deep into the commitment pool by asking his longtime girlfriend Lindsay Cowher, the daughter of former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher, to be his wife.
The 6-11 forward, who is a possible second-round pick in next month's NBA draft, tweeted out the news Thursday night that he and Lindsay were now engaged.
Kelly was part of another Duke run to the Elite Eight where the Devils lost to the eventual national champion Louisville, capping off his final season playing under coach Mike Krzyzewski.
In his senior year he averaged 12.9 points per game, which became the highest of his college career. He also won the National Championship in his freshman season with the Blue Devils.
Lindsay will become the second daughter of Bill Cowher to marry a famous sports figure, following in the footsteps of her older sister, Meaghan, who married Kevin Westgarth of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Lindsay is also an avid basketball fan as well as a former player, having played at Wofford College. Both she and Kelly both attended Ravenscrott High Scholl in Raleigh, North Carolina together.
