The Cubs (20-30), leading 2-0 in the third inning of Tuesday's contest, appeared poised to secure at least a tie in the intracity series for the first time since 2008, but a rainout prevented that. Instead, the Cubs, who have lost 19 of their last 28 against the White Sox (24-25), will give it another try at Wrigley Field, where the White Sox swept them last season.

"You hate to waste any time you get up 2-0 against a pitcher like (Chris) Sale," Cubs manager Dale Sveum said. "You score two and hopefully a couple more and you've done your share off a guy like that. It's too bad the game has to get canceled that quick."

To snap their string of futility against the White Sox, the Cubs hope Scott Feldman (4-4, 2.80) doesn't let one bad start dampen his own success this season. After losing his first three starts, the right-hander went 4-0 with a 1.27 ERA over his next five starts, but that came to an end on Friday. He surrendered a season-high five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings in a 7-4 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

The Cubs have lost nine of Feldman's 13 career starts against the White Sox, but he turned in a gem on July 29, scattering seven hits in eight innings of a 2-0 home victory.

Feldman has a 1.33 ERA at home this season, striking out 24 in 27 innings over four starts.

Meanwhile, John Danks (0-0, 4.50) will return to the site where he picked up his most recent win. On May 19, 2012, Danks surrendered just three hits over 6 1/3 shutout innings in a 7-4 victory over the Cubs. He missed the rest of the year due to a left shoulder injury, and made his return Friday, giving up three runs in six innings of a 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins.

"It was a good first one," said Danks, who threw 76 pitches. "I did as much as I had hoped to do."
