Liverpool have as good as clinched the signing of Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas after agreeing a fee with the Spanish club.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old over the past week and according to widespread reports in the British press the English Premier League side have agreed a fee believed to be worth around £7.7 million ($11.6 million).
Some reports also suggest the fee could be as low as £6 million due to Celta Vigo's precarious position in La Liga. The talented striker has a €10 million (£8.5 million, $13 million) release clause in his contract, which apparently goes down to €7 million (£6 million, $9 million) if Celta get relegated.
Celta Vigo are currently third bottom in La Liga, one point adrift of Deportivo La Coruna with just one game remaining in the season.
The striker will reportedly fly down to Liverpool after the season comes to an end this weekend to complete a medical and discuss personal terms.
Aspas is very highly regarded in Spain, and has been linked with the likes of Valencia and Atletico Madrid, while Reading, Swansea and Chelsea held an interest to sign the striker in January.
Liverpool, however, seem to have won the battle for Aspas' signature, with the Reds set to complete their second signing of the summer having already agreed a move for Kolo Toure from Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Pepe Reina has admitted he would be open to a move to Barcelona if an offer were to materialize, but admitted he had not heard from the Spanish champions as yet and he was perfectly happy at Anfield.
"I have no evidence about Barcelona's interest in me," Reina said. "I don't know if the club has spoken with my agent. If he doesn't say something it is because there isn't any serious offer on the table.
"I have a contract with Liverpool and I'm very happy in England. At present, I just have an option: stay at Liverpool. Everything else is just talk. There has been no direct contact.
"Barcelona is a great club and it is difficult to say no to a club like Barcelona. But we are talking about assumptions and I should not do it.
"It would be difficult leave Liverpool. If I do it, it is to improve and grow as player."
