Kansas City Chiefs Rumors: Eric Berry Promises Playoffs as Andy Reid Installing Fast Offense, Says Team Improved from Last Sason

The Kansas City Chiefs went 2-14 last season, rounding out a season as the NFL's worst team. After a tough 2012, the team was stripped down and is ready to start from scratch. With Andy Reid as the new head coach and Alex Smith now starting under center many of the Chiefs players believe they will be a team to content next season. Starting safety Eric Berry is not afraid to start talking about post season plans in Kansas City.

As OTAs continue on, Berry notes that the team is focused and Reid is large the factor in the new team mindset. He is in full belief that postseason play is not out of the question.

"As long as we keep working, as long as we keep getting better every day, and everyone comes in focused, we have a very, very high chance of reaching the playoffs-which is not our only goal but it's the first step toward where we want to go. So, as long as we just keep working and keep moving forward, I feel like we got a great chance of doing some great things but if we don't then, it's not going to happen," Berry said.

Reid's strong defensive mind is what Berry thinks will help give the unit an edge in the upcoming year. He said the coach is hard on the them, continuing to introduce new challenges.

One of those new challenges will be a faster pace with the offense. Reid intends on moving practices like a track meet, challenging players to get in and out of the huddle faster while thinking and moving a lot quicker. While he believes the team is improving, he said they certainly have a long way to go to be better than the 2-14 team.

"They're keeping a positive attitude and working through it. We'll keep getting sharper like we have been doing. We'll keep getting sharper and more efficient every opportunity we have to do this," Reid said.

While Reid is hungry for overall success with the Chiefs, he also wants to see individual players start to shine. One of those will be wide receiver Dwayne Bowe. Reid and Bowe have been putting in extra time as Bowe vows to lead the league in catches and touchdowns.

Reid and Berry are not the only ones optimistic of how the season will go. A number of Chiefs players believe they will be a much more improved and complete team in 2013.
