The Denver Broncos were already one of the best teams in the NFL last season after making it to the playoffs as the number one seed and after adding a number of players in free agency, the team is expected to be even better in 2013.
One area that most definitely will be improved is in the secondary, as the team brought in former San Diego Chargers cornerback Quentin Jammer on a contract. Jammer now joins Champ Bailey as well as free-agent Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and third-round draft pick Kayvon Webster to a secondary that will much improved after being solid already last season. Charles Woodson almost signed with the team but he instead went back to his old team in the Raiders.
Jammer will be with the team on Thursday at the facility and will work out and at 6 feet and 204 pounds he will be a physical force for a team that has to face Alex Smith, Philip Rivers and Matt Flynn this season. He played 11 seasons for the Chargers and made 21 picks during that time and he was once the fifth overall pick and has been one of the most consistent cornerbacks in the league during his career.
Jammer had three interceptions last season and his durability will be a key factor, as he has missed just three games over his career. He returned a pick against Denver for a touchdown and he will join Chris Harris, Omar Bolden, Tony Carter, Mario Butler and Aaron Hester on the roster. The Broncos also added Wes Welker and should be even better than last year when they won 11 straight games at one point. The team ranked third in passing yards allowed per game and should get even better with the addition of Jammer. While Jammer is getting older he will add veteran depth to the team.
