Tim Tebow Rumors: Dan Marino Says Quarterback Will Return To NFL But Not Ready To Start, QB Options Include Oakland Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, CFL and AFL

Tim Tebow is a free agent and while he can sign with any team in the league, so far he has not had any takers besides the CFL and AFL and now another legendary quarterback has weighed in on the star, with Dan Marino talking to the Huffington Post about his future.

According to the Huffington Post, Marino joined Huff Post Live and spoke about his career and also about Tebow and what chance he has in the NFL. He said that while Tebow is a great kid, he's not "there yet" when it comes to the NFL, although Marino said that he expects him to return in "some capacity" meaning that could be in a different position. Marino spoke about his college career and while he was one of the best in that level, he has yet to show that he can play quarterback in the NFL at a high level.

Tebow spent last season mostly on the sidelines for the Jets after being traded to the team from the Denver Broncos, who signed Peyton Manning to take over for him. Tebow had a rough season in New York, as the team had no idea how to use him and when they did they did it all wrong and he ended up with just 102 rushing yards and 39 passing yards on the season without getting into the end zone.

Tebow was a star while winning championships in high school and college and while he has a different style of throwing the ball and playing quarterback, he turned around the Broncos in 2011 at 1-4 and took them to a division title and the playoffs, where he won a game against the Steelers before being traded. Now that he is a free agent, Tebow has received a number of offers, but none of them have been in the NFL, as he has gotten ones from the Arena and Canadian football leagues. Tebow has also been offered deals for the lingerie league and the indoor league.

Tebow needs a situation where he can grow as a quarterback and he has likely improved this offseason as he has worked with Chris Weinke and Vinny Testaverde on his footwork and throwing motion. Tebow to Jacksonville looked like a good fit, but the team has said no and that has ticked off some fans, including ones that took out ads asking for him and other who tried to petition the White House.

Many say Tebow is blackballed in the NFL due to the media hype and no matter what team signs him he will bring a circus like presence whether he wants to or not. Tebow deserves a chance in the NFL after proving that he could start and win in the playoffs, but it may be a while before a team gives him a chance after what happened with the Jets last season.

"Tim Tebow is a great kid. He's a great athlete. He's one of the best college players to ever play the game. But as far as being able to play at a high level as far as throwing the football in the league, he's just not there yet," Marino told Marc Lamont Hill during a visit to HuffPost Live on Wednesday.
