New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez has plans to be under center as the Jets starter, as he can't begin to fathom the possibility of being beat out for the job, according to the New York Post.
"I don't really think like that. I'm planning on playing, and planning on starting so I'll let you know,'' said Sanchez when he was asked if he would be surprised if he didn't start. "I don't plan on that happening.''
After giving away three interceptions during the organized team activities last week, Sanchez went 8-of-11 Thursday without a single pick.
"I feel the best I've felt in a while and I feel like I'm putting together one of my best offseasons," he said. "Accuracy-wise I just feel great.''
His competition, rookie Geno Smith, has been supportive of Sanchez as starter, saying that he wouldn't be hurt or stunned by him not getting the job.
"It's not my job to really worry about that," he said. "It's my job to work hard and whatever it takes to help my team win. ... It wouldn't hurt my confidence; it just means I need to continue to work hard. I have confidence one day I'll get there: It just takes time."
