The news that everyone already knew was finally confirmed with Chelsea announcing the return of Jose Mourinho as the club's manager.
Mourinho comes back to the club where he enjoyed so much success, winning two English Premier League titles during his first stay between 2004-07, and will be officially presented to the press next Monday, June 10.
"Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Jose Mourinho as First Team Manager," the club said in a statement on their official website.
"Mourinho has signed a four-year contract and will return to the club where he won two Premier League titles, an F.A. Cup and two League Cups between 2004 and 2007.
"He brings three coaching staff with him in Rui Faria, Silvino Louro and Jose Morais. Each carries the title of assistant first team coach and will work alongside current first team staff Steve Holland, Christophe Lollichon and Chris Jones."
Mourinho managed his final game at Real Madrid at the weekend, leading the Spanish side to a 4-2 win over Osasuna in the last game of the La Liga season.
Real president Florentino Perez confirmed Mourinho was Chelsea bound, before the Portuguese himself admitted on Spanish television that he was on his way to Stamford Bridge.
"I am delighted to welcome Jose back to Chelsea," chief executive Ron Gourlay said. "His continued success, drive and ambition made him the outstanding candidate.
"It is our aim to keep the club moving forward to achieve greater success in the future and Jose is our number one choice as we believe he is the right manager to do just that.
"He was and remains a hugely popular figure at the club and everyone here looks forward to working with him again."
Mourinho will receive the polar opposite reception received by previous manager Rafa Benitez, who was far from liked by the Chelsea faithful, with Mourinho one of the most popular managers ever to grace the West London club, and the Portuguese will hope to bring as much success to Chelsea as he did during his first stint.
