French Open 2013 Bracket: Men's Singles Quarterfinals Completely Set

Jun 03, 2013 02:36 PM EDT

The French Open 2013 Men's Singles bracket has its last eight players standing. The quarterfinals at Roland Garros are soon to take off and these are the four matchups with eight players left in the quarters of the tournament.

There are the usual characters expected to be alive this late in contention. Guys like Novak Djokovic, who is No. 1 overall, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are automatics. However, as we further look at the bracket, we see a couple of new names this deep in a grand slam.

Here are the matchups remaining in Men's Singles tennis at Roland Garros:

Novak Djokovic (1)
vs.
Tommy Haas (12)

Rafael Nadal (3)
vs.
Stanislas Wawrinka (9)

Tommy Robredo (32)
vs.
David Ferrer (4)

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (6)
vs.
Roger Federer (2)

Robredo might seem like a new name, but he's had his success in the French Open. This is his fifth quarterfinal appearance. He had been inactive at Roland Garros since 2010, but he returned in 2013 with a bang and now finds himself in the heat of the battle against his fellow Spaniard, Ferrer.

Wawrinka was supposed to be a decent Men's Doubles player. He was Federer's partner in the 2012 London Olympics. However, now, Wawrinka is making a name for himself as a singles player and he is off to a great start. He has only appeared in a grand slam quarterfinal for the third time in his career. He went back-to-back in 2010 at the U.S. Open followed by a 2011 appearance at the Australian Open. Unfortunately for Wawrinka, he will be facing Nadal who is on pace to winning his eighth French Open title.
