Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Tony Romo Ready For Super Bowl Step As Jerry Jones Adds Dante Rosario? Quarterback Needs Weapons With DeMarcus Ware Playing For Payday

The Dallas Cowboys have been a disappointment over the past few years after losing the NFC East twice in the final week of the season and heading into 2013, expectations are even higher after Tony Romo was given a big contract extension.

According to ESPN.com, Jerry Jones isn't done adding talent to the roster, as he signed tight end Dante Rosario on Monday to give Romo more weapons on offense. The team already has one of the greatest players ever in Jason Witten, but the team now will add depth with a tight end that learned from one of the best in San Diego in Antonio Gates. Rosario had a quite season last year with 10 passes for 95 yards and he will look at add to career numbers of 99 catches for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns after being drafted in the fifth round by the Panthers in 2007. Rosario visited with the Cowboys last week and liked what he heard from the team, but his signing forced the team to waive undrafted free agent Paul Freedman.

The team now has Jason Witten, James Hanna, Gavin Escobar, Colin Cochart, Andre Smith and Rosario on the roster at tight end and the position should be one of depth and production for the team going forward. Rosario has good size and hands and teaming him with Witten in certain sets could open up the field for Romo during the season. Rosario has also played on special teams and in the backfield as a blocker and that is where his true value can come for the Cowboys.

Although the team finished third in the league in passing yards last season, they were 31st in rushing and another blocker in the backfield that is experienced may help with that. Witten was prolific again last season with 110 catches for 1,039 yards and three touchdowns and adding Rosario should only help him get out into space more. The Cowboys defense will also have a lot of focus this year, as DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer will be playing for contracts and with a new defense coming in with Monte Kiffin, they will be expected to produce. Jerry Jones feels that the team can win a Super Bowl this year with the roster they have and with the new long extension to Romo, Jones also feels it has the right man under center.
