Dwight Howard is once again the story of the summer and with free agency fast approaching, the Los Angeles Lakers star is looking more and more like he will leave for another team, with rumors pointing to the Houston Rockets or Dallas Mavericks.
According to Pro Basketball Talk, Howard spent last season trying to work on one of his biggest problems, as he went to a psychiatrist from the Lakers to help with his foul shooting, something he has always struggled with. This past season he shot under 50 percent from the line and he said to the LA Times in an interview he went to a psychiatrist as the only issue for him was "between his ears" and that he may have been thinking too much about shooting from the line.
Teams can employ a foul Howard strategy like they did with Shaq back in the day since he is such a poor shooter and if he can improve his percentage just a bit, team's will have to change that philosophy and he will score more. For the story Howard played a free throw contest and although he struggles from the line, he says that he is improving.
Howard started playing well with Kobe Bryant late in the season, but once Bryant was hurt, that was it for the Lakers and the team was swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round. Howard didn't get along with coach Mike D'Antoni and there have been signs that he will leave and the Rockets are ready to pounce on him. The team feels they have a championship roster in place and that Howard could be the missing piece. The Lakers scored the sixth most points per game in the league last season and allowed the 22nd most and need to improve and get younger for next season. The team is going to try to sign Howard, it just depends if he wants to sign back there.
