The Houston Rockets are ready to go after Dwight Howard in the offseason once he officially becomes a free agent and while a number of rumors have swirled involving Chandler Parsons in a deal to free up space, that has not stopped the star from helping out his local community.
According to CBS Sports, Parsons was asked by a local student to accompany her to the prom for her school, much like Heat superstar Dwyane Wade did this season, but unfortunately he had to decline as he was not in Houston. Instead the former Florida Gators star sent a huge party bus to make up for it. Parsons was asked on Twitter about the prom, which was on May 31st, and wrote back "Thanks for the invite @steph_marie03. Unfortunately I'm not in Houston. I hope you have a great time!! Be safe." Parsons then sent the bus out for the girl in his place, making her very happy after declining her invitation.
Parsons has been a solid player for the Rockets since being drafted and the team feels that it has a championship roster in place for Dwight Howard if he chooses to come to Houston. Along with Donatas Motiejunas and Patrick Beverley, general manager Daryl Morey feels that the team has a young core and after averaging over 15 points this season in his second year, the team thinks he could be a breakout star next year. James Harden proved to be a number one option and if Howard comes in, the team could contend in the West big time. Parsons dropped 27 points in the playoffs in a win against the Thunder and he could play an even bigger part next season depending on what goes down. He has a new number one fan in town anyway after the party bus and the team hopes Howard likes that feel good story.
