Manchester City confirmed their first capture of the summer after Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho put pen to paper on a long-term deal.
City agreed a fee, believed to be around £30 million ($47 million), with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk with Fernandinho signing a five-year contract with the club after passing a medical.
The signing does not come as a surprise with the 28-year-old earlier in the week pictured entering a hospital in Manchester for undergoing his medical.
"This is a change, a challenge and a chance that I have been waiting a long time for," the Brazilian international told the club's official website. "Playing in the Premier League for City is like a dream.
"My ambition here is to win all the titles, the team here is strong, and so is the greatness of the club and the supporters. Professionally this is a spectacular thing.
"Playing for a huge club in a huge league makes me so happy. I hope I will be able to repay City for what they have done for me.
"I know I will face challenges but I am prepared for them. Every player at a high level faces pressure and must respond and I am ready for that too.
"I know a lot about City. Ever since they expressed an interest in me, I have been learning more."
Fernandinho had expressed his desire to move to City a month or so back, with Shakhtar holding out for a large fee, even if they settled for lesser than the buyout clause of £42.5 million ($66 million).
City have also agreed a fee of around £24 million ($37 million) with Sevilla for Spanish international winger Jesus Navas, and with Manuel Pellegrini set to be named the new manager early next week at the latest, the Manchester side already look like they mean business ahead of the start of next season.
