NFL Rumors: Brett Favre Blames Self for Green Bay Packers Feud, Credits Aaron Rodgers, Mark Murphy for Mending Relationship as Retirement Ceremony Likely

The Brett Favre, Green Bay Packers divorce was messy. The longtime team quarterback ended his tenure in Green Bay on a bad note and carried the feud on for a number of years. As relationships begin to mend and the two put the past behind them, Favre is nothing that he probably did not handle things the best he could have.

Favre used to avoid talking about his split with the Green Bay Packers. After coming out of retirement to play another season, the Packers said they were ready to move on with Aaron Rodgers and proceeded to trade Favre to the New York Jets. He repaid the team by playing a season for their rivals, the Minnesota Vikings. One the most beloved player in the Packers franchise returned home to be booed at Lambeau Field.

"It's over and done with. I was at fault. I feel that both sides had a part in it. If you could go back, would I or them have done things differently? I'm sure both sides would. But you can't," Favre told a radio station in Buffalo.

Now, Favre and the Packers are concentrating on mending the broken bridges between them. In February, current Packers quarterback Rodgers said that it was time for the two sides to heal things up and move forward in the relationship. He and Favre made a rare appearance together at the NFL Honors awards show, a moment Favre says was pivotal in the relationship.

"Aaron has said some very nice things. He and I have a good relationship. I had a chance to present an award with him at the Super Bowl and that was for real. It wasn't for show. And so I think everything will be fine," Favre said.

Things are getting so fine that Packers president Mark Murphy wants Favre "back in the family" with Green Bay. He is hoping to have a retirement ceremony for the quarterback and hopefully have him working for the Packers in some capacity.

Favre credits Murphy with helping mend the relationship for he and the team. The president stepped in months before the drama with the veteran quarterback occurred and he attempted to prevent the breakup from happening.

"Mark kind of came into a hornet's nest if you will. He's been extremely great in trying to make this work. In our discussions, the retirement ceremony will happen. I think both sides are genuine. I know they are," Favre said.

Favre deserves the retirement ceremony after winning three MVP awards and one Super Bowl title with the Packers. The quarterback notes that what is past is past and he has gotten over things.
