Miami Dolphins Dustin Keller Talks Tim Tebow Trade, New York Jets Nonsense, Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith Quarterback Rumors As Team Starts Mandatory Minicamp

Miami Dolphins tight end Dustin Keller is with a new team after leaving the New York Jets as a free agent and to hear him tell it, the differences between the two division rivals could not be more stark and that is one reason why the tight end is happy heading into 2013.

According to ESPN.com, Keller spoke about his time with the Jets on Sunday with SiriusXM NFL Radio and spoke about the circus-like atmosphere during his years with the team and how it affected the players and the franchise. Keller said that with things like the Tim Tebow trade, Brett Favre and other distractions, there were a number of issues with the team and there was always "nonsense" going on. Keller spent five seasons with the team and played in every game until last year when he missed half the season and played in eight games, making 28 catches for 317 yards and two scores.

During the first part of his career, Keller made at least 45 catches for over 500 yards each season and scored at least two touchdowns, with his best year coming in 2011, when he made 65 catches for 815 yards and five touchdowns, all career highs or tied for them. He dealt with injuries last season and that led him to a one-year deal with the Dolphins, who Keller says he is excited to play for, including for "professional" in Dolphins coach Joe Philbin, a sort of backhanded compliment to Rex Ryan, who wasn't so pro.

Keller said that there were more distractions with the Jets than anywhere else he had been and he also spoke about Mark Sanchez and the selection of Geno Sith in the draft. He said that Sanchez didn't like that the moves were made and that it could push him a bit and Keller also added that the quarterback should improve this season. Keller joins Mike Wallace and Dannell Ellerbe as additions to the Dolphins in free agency and the team is expecting a big jump after spending money and in the second year with quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
