NBA Finals 2013: Jimmy Kimmel Asks Los Angeles Lakers Fans About How Team Will Do In Championship Against Miami Heat For Lie Witness News (VIDEO)

Jun 10, 2013 11:27 AM EDT

The Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs are in the NBA finals and with the series now tied 1-1 things are looking like they will be exciting and in honor of the championship, late night host Jimmy Kimmel did a segment for 'Lie Witness News' and asked Lakers fans about how their team will do in the championship.

Obviously the Lakers are not in the championship and that is the point of the segment, as the show has done multiple times, they go around with a correspondent asking people about the Super Bowl, Academy Awards, Coachella Festival and other events before they happen or by giving false information and seeing what reactions they get. This time they asked people who called themselves Lakers fans about the NBA playoffs, where the Lakers were swept out by the Spurs in the first round, and asked them about the team being in the NBA finals.

Clearly there is a disconnect about people and whether they follow basketball, or they just were too afraid to get caught without knowing. Either way a number of fans had no idea what they were saying as they said they were excited about the team making it. Some spoke about Kobe Bryant, even though he had a serious injury that kept him out of the playoffs and one fan from Miami even said that he would be excited to see the Miami Heat come to LA to play against the Lakers in the finals.

The host even asked people about where they were when they found about the Lakers made it, but clearly that didn't happen. One fan said they thought the Lakers could win the Stanley Cup while another said he was surprised that the Lakers made it and they could win.
