Los Angeles Lakers star Dwight Howard is the most prominent free agent set to hit the market on July 1 and while news about his impending choice of where to play next season is the most important thing pertaining to the center, that hasn't stopped the television program "Jeopardy" from mocking his free throw shooting.
According to Pro Basketball Talk, a question came up during a recent episode of the program and after a player picked the category Science In Sports, a question came up that read: "Geometric arc that's the natural path of a projectile; a narrower on helps free throws, Dwight Howard." The correct answer was what is a parabola and the player who picked the question got it correct.
The Lakers biggest concern this offseason is trying to sign Howard in free agency, but it is expected to be a tall task, as rumors have him signing anywhere but LA, including the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and Brooklyn Nets. Howard has always had issues with his foul shooting just like former Lakers big man Shaquille O'Neal and one can only imagine how much he could score if he was able to sink those shots.
Last season Howard shot under 50 percent from the line in the regular season and under 45 percent during the postseason in the four game sweep by the San Antonio Spurs, who are playing in the finals against the Miami Heat. Howard has a 57 percent career free throw percentage and while that could improve a great amount, team's will not be looking at that as a factor while trying to sign him. The Lakers went 45-37 last season and came in seventh place in the Western conference before being swept out by the San Antonio Spurs.
