New England Patriots Sign Tim Tebow, Rumors Say Quarterback Will Be In Minicamp As Tom Brady Ready For Media Hype?

Tim Tebow is a free agent now that he has cleared waivers and after the New York Jets released him the quarterback was linked to a number of different teams in the NFL, but after some initial interest so far it appears that his option are limited, but now, according to ESPN.com and Twitter, he has signed with the New England Patriots.

Tebow has received speculation about nearly every NFL team, but one place where the action won't be going down for the quarterback is in Las Vegas. According to the Sporting News, despite the fact that putting bets on where Tebow could land would be great entertainment, sports books are not allowed to do it. The report says that the Nevada Gaming Control Board does not allow any bets to be wagered when some people out there know the outcome, which would be the case if an NFL team decided to pick him up, as the executives and GM would know the outcome already.

Tebow is a polarizing figure in the NFL and despite the fact that he led the Broncos to the playoffs in 2011, no team has given him a shot. The Jets appeared like they would give him the opportunity to play, but instead they let him languish on the sidelines and when they did let him play, it wasn't for long stretches. He finished the season with 102 rushing yards and 39 passing yards while the Jets looked like a minor league franchise. The team said they had a plan for Tebow when he arrived, but all it amounted to was a waste of $4.1 million.

Tebow led the Broncos to the playoff and a postseason win against the Steelers, but that wasn't enough for the NFL to give him a shot elsewhere, at least not yet. The report says that the Vegas best bets include the 49ers, Seahawks, Eagles, Panthers and Redskins. The Patriots were a team that looked like an option since they have his old coach in Josh McDaniels, who was the one that drafted him in the first place. Coach Bill Belichick could easily find a place for him, but that would depend on what Tebow wants to do.

The best situation for Tebow is to find a team that has an established quarterback so he can sit behind and learn while also contributing in other ways and since he is a hard worker, a team should give him a chance. Tebow had a number of come from behind victories with the Broncos in 2011 and despite the fact that he has an odd throwing motion, he proved he can win in the NFL and all he needs now is a team to take a chance on him.

Even though the Jets released him, the team praised the work he did in the offseason. Tebow spent time in Florida, Arizona and Texas working out and he also trained with former Heisman winners Chris Weinke and Vinny Testaverde while working on his throwing motion and his mechanics.
