As customary with home-court advantage in sports, fans will typically try their best to help distract the opposing teams to give any slight edge to their home team.
Not too surprisingly, Miami Heat fans tried to distract Tony Parker, while at the free throw line, in Game 2 of the NBA Finals by using large poster cut-outs of his ex-wife, Eva Longoria. According to the Miami Herald, though members of the Heat Xtreme Team pep squad helped distribute the props on Sunday, the Heat said it wasn't a team production at all.
Heat spokesman Tim Donovan said this in a statement: "Someone who paid to go attend the game [at American Airlines Arena] brought them and were handing them out. He asked members of the Xtreme Team to hand them out, which they did. Until we saw what was going on, then we stopped it. We said, 'No, we're not doing this.' "
Parker and Longoria split in 2010 after three years marriage due to infidelity on Parker's behalf. Longoria, a former star of daytime soap opera (The Young and the Restless) and nighttime soap (Desperate Housewives) was thrown in the public eye soon after the media learned that one of Parker's lovers was teammate Brent Barry's soon-to-be ex-wife.
The NBA Finals continues Tuesday with the San Antonio Spurs hosting the Heat for Game 3 at 9 p.m. ET.
