NBA TV aired "The Doctor" Monday evening. If you're an NBA fan, that title says it all and you immediately know that the subject of the documentary is the great Julius Ervin, better known as "Dr. J." He's known for his spectacular dunks, his swag and the famous fro. However, in the documentary, you get to know a side of Ervin that many have yet to know.

Don't worry, we won't spoil it. Here's the info in case you missed it Monday night or in case you want to see it again:

Erving graced the sport of basketball for 16 seasons dating back to his days in the ABA. He began his career with the Virginia Squires in 1971 and then moved on to the New York Nets in 1974 until the Philadelphia 76ers decided to give Ervin a chance in the NBA.

In1976, at age 26, Ervin made his NBA debut. He averaged 21.6 points that season and simply got better and better retiring when he could still make solid contributions on offense. In 1987, when Ervin last laced it up in the NBA, he was averaging 16.8 points, four rebounds, three assists 1.3 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.

He's an NBA legend and you have a chance to get to know his story better as NBA TV will re-air his documentary.
